Background:

Nick Clegg has joined the advisory board of Efekta Education Group as the company expands its learning platform across education systems worldwide. Efekta said Clegg will advise the company on education policy, technology rules, and international partnerships.

Efekta develops learning tools for teachers and students, including curriculum systems, classroom tools, and digital assistants. The company says these tools aim to address challenges such as teacher shortages and unequal access to education in several regions.

The advisory board is chaired by José Manuel Barroso. The board provides guidance on long-term growth, public sector engagement, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in education.

Clegg said education remains central to economic opportunity and social mobility. He noted that technology will increasingly help education systems support teachers and students at scale. He also highlighted the company’s efforts to support teaching, especially in regions such as Southeast Asia and Latin America where schools face teacher shortages.

Efekta has recently expanded partnerships with governments and organizations across Southeast Asia, Africa, Central Asia, and Latin America. As part of this expansion, the company launched what it describes as the world’s largest AI learning pilot, involving more than four million students and teachers.

Earlier programs in Brazil also showed strong results. In the state of Paraná, about 750,000 students used the platform, and students recorded a 32.5 percent improvement in standardized English test scores after two years, according to the company.

Stephen Hodges welcomed Clegg’s appointment and said his experience in both education and technology policy will provide valuable insight as the company continues to grow internationally. Hodges added that the company aims to ensure its technology delivers measurable learning outcomes for teachers and students around the world.

Efekta says its advisory board will support the company as it continues expanding its platform across both public education systems and corporate learning environments.
