Background

K-universities is a new website by The Korea Times to publicize the best qualities of Korean universities and to give accurate information to foreign students regarding Korea’s education system.

It is targeted towards prospective students, their parents and overseas universities that want information on the Korean education system. It brings together university rankings, education news and study guidance in a single online destination.

K-universities features three main sections. In the University Rankings category, you will find the Korea Times University Rankings. You can learn more about how the ranking system was conducted and learn more about what makes up the ranking, including international student enrollment rates, graduate job placement rates, and scholarships.

The News section highlights developments in higher education, including universities’ international activities, campus initiatives, education policies and global trends. Meanwhile, the Study in Korea section provides practical guidance on degree programmes, exchange opportunities, scholarships, visa applications and residence procedures for international students.

The Korea Times said the platform is intended to expand the role of its university rankings beyond an annual assessment by creating a global resource that increases the international visibility of Korean universities.

The organisation also described the platform as the first global service in Korea to combine university rankings, higher education news and study-abroad information in one place. It aims to become a trusted source for overseas audiences interested in Korean education.

The Korea Times plans to further develop the platform by adding detailed university profiles, comparative data and examples of internationalisation practices to strengthen its role as a gateway to Korean higher education.
