Background
The Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences at Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios, known as UNIMINUTO, has received international accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs for its Antioquia-Chocó campus. The accreditation, valid for ten years, covers the faculty’s Business Administration and International Marketing Technology programmes at its Bello campus.
The accrediting body, founded in the United States in 1988, accredits business programmes across more than 60 countries and works with over 1,200 affiliated institutions worldwide.
John Anderson Virviescas, dean of the faculty, said the accreditation reflected the commitment and transformative presence of the educational project across the country’s regions, adding that it recognised the dedicated work of the entire academic community.
During its evaluation, the accreditor highlighted the faculty’s social impact, particularly its work supporting students from lower-middle-income backgrounds, along with its community-service practices, curriculum updates and faculty-development plans.
The accreditation is expected to give students access to internationally recognised training, along with opportunities such as business simulations and collaborative international learning. The graduates will benefit through professional profiles, and at the same time, the faculty will have development plans and international research networks.
The accreditation process started in 2020 and proceeded to self-study in 2021, followed by site visits and peer reviews.
The faculty has trained over 9,200 students and currently has more than 4,500 active students and 4,660 graduates. It employs 44 professors, with 70% holding C1 English certification, and runs two research groups recognised by Colombia’s science ministry.
