California’s public colleges and universities have launched a new open repository called the Curated Asset Repository for Learning Excellence (CARLE), offering more than 600 free educational resources for faculty, students, and tutors.
The initiative, announced on LinkedIn, brings together materials created by faculty across California Community Colleges, California State University, and the University of California. It is supported by the California Education Learning Lab, which funds projects to expand open educational resources (OER).
CARLE features a wide collection of teaching and learning materials, including Canvas courses, online courseware, lecture notes, worksheets, and classroom exercises. Most of the resources currently highlight STEM disciplines, but organisers said the repository will expand to cover interdisciplinary data science and artificial intelligence in the future.
According to the announcement, the repository is designed to serve as a one-stop hub for educators, providing “ready-to-use open resources” as well as flexible content that can be adapted for different courses and subjects.
