The University of Bradford has ranked first in England for improving access to higher education, according to the Social Mobility Commission. The ranking recognizes the university’s success in increasing access for disadvantaged students while accounting for their location.
Professor Gillian Murray, vice-chancellor of the University of Bradford, said talent exists in every community and that the real challenge lies in ensuring opportunity exists there too.
She said the ranking reflects the university’s long-standing commitment to widening access to higher education while helping students build the skills, confidence and experience needed to succeed.
The recognition follows a string of recent accolades for the university. The Daily Mail named it University of the Year for Social Inclusion, and it has held the top spot in England on the Higher Education Policy Institute’s Social Mobility Index for five consecutive years.
Data released by the Higher Education Statistics Agency in June showed that nine out of 10 Bradford graduates were either employed or pursuing further study 15 months after graduation. The university also ranks among the top 20 in England for graduates entering highly skilled employment.
Job outcomes extend regionally too, with three-quarters of Bradford graduates finding work in Yorkshire and Humber, reflecting the university’s role in building local talent and driving regional economic growth.
