Background:
Northern Ireland’s Education Minister, Paul Givan, has started a new online programme to support primary school teachers. Known as the Classroom Excellence Programme, it is run with Evidence-Based Education and gives teachers practical tools and research-backed methods to make learning better in their classrooms.
Over 200 primary schools have joined the programme so far. It is part of the Department’s RAISE initiative and supports the main goals of the Transformed education strategy.
Minister Givan said the Classroom Excellence Programme is designed to support primary school teachers and their students. It will help teachers better understand how children learn and remember new information.
The programme also gives teachers tailored learning paths so they can focus on the areas they need most and meet the specific needs of their students. Participants will also benefit from a wide range of resources, including self-study courses, webinars on key teaching topics, expert insights from education specialists, video demonstrations of effective teaching techniques, and a comprehensive resource library.
Minister Givan said the programme will give teachers practical strategies to help all children succeed, especially those who face extra challenges.
Schools that have signed up will be contacted by Evidence-Based Education in early January 2026 to start the registration process for the programme.
