Background
Pearson, the international learning firm, has launched Study Prep, its AI-based tool, in Canada, which can reach over 1.5 million higher education students. The rollout is part of Pearson’s 2025 international expansion plan aimed at helping students succeed in classrooms while preparing for workforce needs.
Study Prep offers students on-demand academic help in more than 25 subjects, based on artificial intelligence and trusted video lesson content. The platform offers short video lessons, practice exercises, access to live tutors, and AI-powered tools that make learning more engaging and effective.
It has one important characteristic, the syllabus-matching technology, where students input their course outline and immediately get a custom-made study plan. This will help the learners to schedule their schedules and track their weekly targets. It also allows its users to pause a video lesson, press an ask a question button, and get immediate responses to any question to an integrated AI chatbot.
The AI tutor provides step-by-step guidance to explain complex concepts without interrupting the flow of study. According to Pearson, this balance between AI support and human expertise creates an improved learning experience.
In a world that is growing increasingly AI-focused, students require the capabilities to not only learn the material but also learn with more depth and readiness to enter the workforce, as Jessica Biga-Wadstein, Country Head at Pearson Canada, stated. With Study Prep coming to Canada, we are providing students and instructors with AI-enhanced tools to propel success.
Students have also welcomed the tool. Maria Beltran, Student Ambassador at Pearson and a student at Toronto Metropolitan University, said the syllabus-upload feature makes it easier to follow lecture topics. “It’s like having a private tutor that organizes my studies and supports me throughout the semester,” she said.
Study Prep currently supports subjects in science, math, psychology, business, and social sciences. Pearson points out that its AI applications are developed in a responsible way, supported by learning science, and verified by subject experts. With more than 80% of Pearson’s products now digital, the company says it remains committed to innovation in education and helping learners succeed in a rapidly changing world.
