Background
In May, the International Association of Language Centres (IALC) and the International Education Consultants Association of Taiwan (IECA) signed a formal cooperation agreement based on the principles of quality assurance, professionalism, transparency and ethical business conduct in the field of international education.
IALC President Jane Dancaster and IECA President Danny Chang signed the agreement. It grants IECA member agencies priority access to IALC workshops, events, and the IALC Agency Loyalty Scheme, which recognises agencies that maintain active and long-term partnerships with IALC schools.
The agreement also covers market insights and information sharing, promotion of quality international education, professional development, and networking opportunities connecting Taiwanese agencies with IALC schools worldwide.
Taiwan is a very vibrant and globally-minded student market, according to IALC. Even though English-speaking spots still lead, people’s interest is slowly shifting more toward Korean, Japanese, and European dialects. IALC’s network of independently owned language centres across multiple destinations, teaching 12 languages, makes it a strong fit for the Taiwanese market.
Many Taiwanese students wish to study languages other than English, according to Danny Chang, and IALC’s school network provides agents with a trustworthy source for partner universities.
Julia Patasheva, Director of Operations at IALC, said Taiwan is a sophisticated and fast-evolving market where students increasingly seek academic quality, multilingual opportunities, and trusted guidance. She added that the partnership aims to simplify connections between Taiwanese agencies and high-quality independent schools globally.
Founded in 1983, IALC represents over 140 language centres worldwide. IECA, established in 1994, currently represents around 160 member agencies in Taiwan.
