Background
China’s “Study in China” brand has become globally recognized, with Chinese language instruction now built into national education systems in 92 countries and international student enrollment rising rapidly, Minister of Education Huai Jinpeng said at a symposium.
Huai said international student numbers in China continue growing, with a marked improvement in enrollment quality and structure, including a notable rise in students from developed countries.
China will further strengthen the “Study in China” brand to draw talented young people from abroad and build stronger ties with those who understand and appreciate the country, he said.
The country plans to deepen cooperation with leading foreign universities in science and engineering, offering more diverse educational opportunities while tightening oversight to protect standards.
Huai said China aims to move toward the center of the global education stage, shifting from a participant to a leader in shaping global education concepts and standards.
Beyond formal education, people-to-people exchanges have gathered pace. More than 50,000 young Americans have visited China under bilateral programs, meeting the “50,000 in five years” goal two and a half years early, while similar Franco-Chinese and Europe-wide youth exchange targets remain on track ahead of schedule.
Digital education and vocational training have become key strengths internationally, with China’s National Smart Education Platform reaching users in more than 200 countries. UK basic education has adopted Chinese math textbooks, while 38 Luban Workshops now run across 32 countries.
